Greetings to all and I must start with a correction, Mrs E Minto emailed to say that I had accidentally swapped her dogs around in the final results, that I listed for Crufts this year. Instead of Best Bitch and Best Puppy being Anacan We Got The Power it should have been Anacan Rock My World and Anacan We Got The Power was Reserve Best Dog.

Whilst we are on the showing theme – The Kennel Club have announced some changes to the Breed Standards Introductory Clause – it now reads ‘However, if a dog possesses a feature, characteristic or colour described as HIGHLY undesirable, it must not be rewarded in the show ring.’ So no changes for the Canaan Dog as no colours, features or characteristic are listed as HIGHLY undesirable. There is the distinction between Highly and just undesirable. There are separate listings and instructions for extremely wary/shy/nervous exhibits. There has been a flurry of shows being listed as now available for entry, some do include Canaan Dog Classes. They are now as follows – In May we have three Championship shows, The National at Stafford on Friday 5th at Stafford being judged by Mr Jeff Horswell – entries closing, The Scottish Kennel Club at Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston, Edinburgh EH28 8NB has Canaan Dogs on the first day Friday 19th May judged by Mr H Ogden and finally in May Bath, Canaans will be showing on Sunday 28th May Judged by Dr N Lemo from Croatia. The Redditch and District is at the Sports Connexion, Ryton on Dunsmore and the Judge will be Clare Andrews (Claran). The Royal Cheshire County Show (Open) have scheduled Canaan Dog Classes on Wednesday 21st June at Tabley, Knutsford, Cheshire, WA16 0HJ and Judge is Ashley Carter (Breezelyn). Paignton will be at the Westpoint arena on Saturday 6th with Judge Mrs C Watson. Darlington’s Judge will be Mrs V Cox on Saturday 16th September at Ripon Racecourse and October Friday 13th at Builth Well the South Wales Kennel Association has Mr David Robbins Judging the Canaans.

As more are published I will keep you all updated. If there are any show societies planning to add Canaan Dog Classes feel free to let me know and I will ensure they are included.

Stay Safe all and fingers crossed for less rain soon and better walks.
