Welcome to 2024, by the time that this is in print we will be starting February. Where does that time go. My new employment has a wide range of hours, often seeing me away from home for up to 50+ hours at a time. This is a huge shout out to mine and all the other family members who support us in our sport by keeping the wheels turning when cannot be there at home.
Continuing with the show results, South Wales Kennel Association Championship Show scheduled Canaan Dog Classes on Friday 13th October 2023. Judge Mr David Robbins had 5 exhibits present and we were over the moon when he awards our ‘Bones’ Nizzana Dammit Jim Best Dog, Best Puppy and Best of Breed, owned by Mr I Kaye, Miss A Byrne and Miss A Barclay. Despite his slightly bouncy nature he still seems to shine. Reserve Best Dog and Best Veteran was Mr M Mouldings Anacan Abu Ghosh. Best Bitch was Mrs E Mintos Anacan After Midnight, Reserve Best Bitch was Mr M Mouldings Torefjell’s Rubin. Then we had the Nordic Open Show, 25th November with breed judge Mr Steve Bennett awarding Best Dog and Best of Breed to Mrs E Mintos Anacan We Got The Power, Best Puppy was our (Mr I Kaye, Miss A Byrne and Miss A Barclay) Nizzana Dammit Jim and Best Veteran was awarded to Mr M Mouldings Torefjell’s Rubin. Best Puppy in Show was Judged by Claire Boggia and we were over the moon make the cut among such excellent exhibits. BUBA Champ Show was one that we had to miss on 2nd December but the results are as follows, Best Dog and Best of Breed Mrs Mintos Anacan We Got The Power, Reserve Best Dog and Best Veteran Mr M Mouldings Abu Ghosh, Best Bitch Mr M Mouldings Torefjell’s Rubin and Reserve Best Bitch Mrs E Mintos Sing A Little Louder, all judged by Dr Sarah Hemstock with all 4 entrants present.
2024 started with a change of date and venue for Redditch & Dist CS now at held at The Kennel Club building, Stoneleigh on Sunday 14th Jan. Judge Jane Paradise had only one entrant, Mr I Kaye, Miss A Byrne and Miss A Barclay’s Nizzana Dammit Jim. Now out of Puppy he was awarded Best of Breed. Unfortunately, due to time constrictions the next day we were unable to stay for the group. Apologies were given. The first Championship show of the year was Manchester on 18th January at Stafford. Sadly, there was again only one entrant, and with unforeseen circumstances we were not able to get there (work is a curse), so our sincerest apologies there to the Society and Judge Mr L Cox.
That gets us up to date with results.
With the sad news of the passing of Mr Mark Cocozza, we have a replacement judge for this year at Crufts. Canaan Dogs will now be judged by Hans Van Den Berg from the Netherlands.
I hope this finds us all enjoying the beginning of 2024.
