Welcome to 2023 and lots to catch up on.
Our puppies have started to travel to their new homes. Some here and some travelling abroad. Most of the time we take the pups to their new homes or the new owners come to collect them. The time travelling back with the family members can be a great time to bond for a young puppy. This time we were forced to use a cargo company, we can’t thank AirPets enough for their prompt replies and easy to follow instructions. Despite a delay in take-off, all went well and he’s now settling in to his new home.
We start with Boston and District Canine Society early in January and from Any Variety not Separately Classified Mrs Mintos Anacan Rock My World won Puppy Bitch and Best Puppy in Breed, despite standing alone in the puppy classes its wonderful to see the breed being promoted in the AVNSC classes.
Then we have Manchester Champ show at Stafford County Show ground on Sunday 22nd January. Judge Mrs Jill Peak was having a very busy day covering for absent Judges. She found her Best Dog and Best of Breed in Millar, Hastings- Menaker, Byrne & Barclays RiverRock Unanimous Decision. We are so happy to be part of the wonderful partnership that are all working together for Canaans here and abroad. Reserve Best dog was Mrs Mintos Anacan We got the Power, Best Bitch was Mr Martin Mouldings Torefjell’s Rubin, Reserve Best Bitch and Best Puppy was Mrs Mintos Anacan Roack My World. It was good to see some new pups in the ring but its very important before exhibiting new examples of the breed that they are ring safe and steady enough to be assessed correctly by the judge. It was very sad to see that one had to be withheld on.
Future shows now this year see Canaan Dogs at Crufts on the last day, Sunday 12th March and being judged by Italian Judge Mrs A. Albrigo and provisionally Hall 1 Ring 5. In May we have three Championship shows, The National on Friday 5th at Stafford being judged by Mr Jeff Horswell, The Scottish Kennel Club at Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston, Edinburgh EH28 8NB has Canaan Dogs on the first day Friday 19th May judged by Mr H Ogden and finally in May Bath, Canaans will be showing on Sunday 28th May Judged by Dr N Lemo from Croatia. We also have a new show giving us classes as mentioned before The Royal Cheshire County Show (Open) have scheduled Canaan Dog Classes. It would be lovely to have a few entered at this show. It will be at Tabley, Knutsford, Cheshire, WA16 0HJ and Judge is Ashley Carter (Breezelyn).
