MERRY CHRISTMAS! All’s quiet on the UK front as everybody gets on with their Christmas dinner!
Over in the USA they have been celebrating 50 years of Canaan Dogs in the United States! Earlier this year, several ICDCA members attended and recorded the International Canaan Dog Conference. A DVD has been compiled and includes conference lectures, international breeder panel discussion, plus a photo slideshow of the desert trip that resulted in Dardar being brought in from the wild. This DVD is available for $40, plus shipping. Half of all sales will go to Shaar Hagai Kennels in support of their effort to expand the breed gene pool, so it’s for a really excellent cause. A herding Instinct Test was also held, and the winner of Best Experienced went to CH River Rock Reach Any Higher CA CGC, with the Best Rookie award going to Kol Tuv Bringer of Light.
Still in the USA Victor Kaftal had some great news on the obedience front. He entered his Canaan Dog, CH URO3 UCDX Anak Adom Me Beit Alpha (Anak), for the first time into UKC Utility, which is considered a bit harder than AKC Utility, and he earned the title in just one weekend, qualifying 3 out of 4 times with scores all in the low 190s. Anak also qualified 4 times in Open, again in the mid 190s, and received HC 3 times. Plus, he did well in Rally level 2 and level 3 getting once a HIT. In all 16 classes in a weekend.
