Westminster – The show of the year for the USA and it’s been accompanied again by snow. There were four Canaans entered and one absentee. I expressed my surprise at such a low entry and the increased likely hood of snow was mentioned and the fact that it is a difficult show to attend, were suggested as possible reasons. Cynthia Dodson stated that the entries for the last few years had been low, 2019 – 3 entries, 2018 – 2 entries, 2017 – 3 entries and 2016 – 6 entries so I guess we can be a little thankful for our 7 entries at Crufts.

Victoria Wise has been kind enough to forward show results for Darlington and Dist Canine Society. They scheduled Canaan Dog Classes for the first time on the 1st Feb 2020 at the Louisa Centre, Front Street, Stanley, Durham. Sadly it wasn’t publicised so Victoria and her puppy Koda – Anacan Relentless. Victoria says although there was no competition in the breed class he did very well and moved out round the ring. He was best of breed. He then was awarded 3rd from 7 in AV Utility Puppy. Although not placed in the Group, Judge Lesley Cooper was delighted to have a Canaan in the ring.

Once again I close on reminding you of a change of judge for the British Utility Breeds Association upcoming open show. Mrs Melanie Reeves is no longer available to judge Canaan Dogs and Mrs Chritsine Owen will now preside on Sat 21st March at Stoneleigh.
