Let’s kick off this week with the Bath Champ Show results that just missed making the deadline last week. To recap Ernie Patterson was our Judge, he found his Best Dog and Best of Breed with Mrs Ellen Mintos Anacan Invincible, Reserve Best Dog and Best Puppy was Anacan Dancing on the Wind again owned by Mrs Minto. Best Bitch was Mr Martin Mouldings Import Torefjell’s Rubin and Reserve Best Bitch was again owned by Mrs Ellen Minto, Anacan Bring the Dawn. Best Veteran was Martin Mouldings Anacan Abu Ghosh. It’s a sad reflection on how long we have all been doing this when the puppies you remember are suddenly veteran. So sorry to have missed the show but hurrah, I got my ankle operation and fingers crossed in a few weeks I should be able to steer our dogs again.

This weekend saw us making the journey to the Paignton. We used to do the journey there and back in one day, now we have hotel rooms, the age catches up with you. The cost of accommodation seems to have risen and finding places that accept dogs and don’t cost a small fortune to have them in the room with you is getting harder. We have friends that regularly camp at the dog shows, maybe one day we will join them. I am someone who after many years of ruffing it, now likes my creature comforts. We shall see. Paignton was the first show for us that had benching back in place and stated no spaces allocated for Gazebos. The weather was absolutely soaking on the first and second day. So how would I have felt if there were no benching or tents to be under, I am not sure. I do think a combination might be the way to go to try to cover all preferences. We exhibited the Canaans on the second day and were in the main hall. This was a huge advantage for the surface as the grass was becoming a little slippery in places. It was great to see Vanessa Wegmann Judging again. She awarded Best Dog and Best of Breed to our ‘Sulu’ Micha de Solemel at Nizzana (imp fra). Once again, I was helped by my sister doing the running with him. Reserve Best Dog and Best Puppy was Mrs Mintos Anacan Dancing on the Wind. Best Bitch was Mrs Minto’s Bring the Dawn. No other placings were awarded as sadly due to torrential rain two other exhibitors with three dogs were absent.

Neither Canaans were considered for a group placing but we did stay to support the breed along Richard Minto who was handling for Ellen taking their ‘DJ’ Anacan Dancing on the Wind into the puppy group. Both groups judged by Mr Ernie Patterson. One day, Maybe…

Have a good week everyone.
