Greetings fellow Canaan Dog note readers. It has come to light that there has been some issue over my breed notes being sent and received. Thankfully this seems to have been resolved and some other little glitches.
In future notes I will add in the information that hasn’t reached you and also keep trying to keep you all updated with the day-to-day news from here and abroad.
Again, if there are any items that you wish to see or subjects you would like covered, please feel free to contact me on the email below.
As this goes to press, we are drawing closer and closer to the publication of the Canaan Dog breed supplement. I look forward to seeing it and all the articles.
Monday 2nd August sees the first Canaan Dog Classes being held at a Championship show. It galls me to miss it but I have had a call to attend hospital and have a procedure on my ankle that has been troubling me for years and has made it more and more difficult to run with the dogs or even do the walks that I love. So, I hope that all has gone well at Bath and Mr Ernie Paterson enjoyed his day. I am isolating and missing all the fun. I did get to visit the beautiful Bath ground on Saturday with my sister on Gundog Day and see her show her Portuguese Pointer, the show as usual was presented in excellent condition. As before, there was a general consensus that the Gazebo set up was preferable to tents and benching. I have to say it was very friendly and sociable.
We are also now looking forward to Paignton, who has stated there will not be an area for Gazebo’s so we shall see how that works out.
I have just received a communication from a friend abroad. Enquiring as to our intentions for the World Show. This is being hosted by the Czech Republic this year and would see Canaan Dogs being shown on 3rd October and being judged by Italian Judge Mr Claudio De Giuliani. Something we would have to consider at great lengths. My friend informs me that she feels they maybe in another lock down and has some issues in the past re-cooping entry fees when the event is cancelled.
Looking further afield – the Israeli Canaan Dog Club of America held their speciality shows. It was held the morning of Friday, July 9, 2021 at Eagle Ranch Resort in Collins, MO, USA. It’s wonderful that there is still enthusiastic support for the breed and Clubs in the USA.
Sadly, we no longer have a breed open show here due to a lack of support. I hope that one day it can be reinstated and all would be welcomed to participate.
