Well I’m delighted to start with news of one of our ‘puppies’ progress. ‘Kori’ (now 2years) – Nizzana Lady Margolotta owned by Deborah Kirk has gained her Kennel Club Good Citizens Gold Award and now also has one assessment to complete in January and she will be registered Assistance Dog. At this time I don’t know of any other Canaans registered here in the UK. I know Deborah has worked hard with her and it’s a wonderful achievement. A proud breeder moment but thanks must also go to the breeders of Kori’s parents, Laurence Aries in France and Alla Garetz in the USA.
We are also happy that Kori has made such a good impression on her neighbour that he is now looking to adopt her mother. Covid allowing we should be able to settle her in before Christmas. It’s a great outcome for Winnie, who will enjoy a retirement sofa, free from competition – except when her daughter visits.
Other news, our local show venue has made a statement that it will not be available to host any dog shows from now, through to the end of March 2021. This is a big blow to many of the south east’s show societies as it’s a popular location at Maidstone in Kent. There are other venues that are being investigated and maybe able to allow events to return before April 2021.
So will end on a high and something for us to look forward to – we have a great puppy waiting list and all being well will plan a litter for the first half of next year. This has been a difficult time but thanks to modern technology we have been able to introduce prospective new owners to the breed and ask and answer questions despite the restrictions.
Whatever the world throws at us – we can adapt and carry on. It wonderful to think that there will possibly be a vaccine for Covid 19 that should have an impact by the middle of next year. Happy days ahead.
Stay safe everyone
