Looking on Fosse Data and Higham Press there are a few shows towards the end of the year that are open for entry but for Canaan Dogs only three champ shows are listed so far.

A question on a social media platform asked “What about qualifying for Crufts 2021? With most Champ Shows being cancelled this year there is less opportunity to qualify.” I am going to be very interested to see what solution the Kennel Club will put in place. As soon as there is any information I will most certainly pass it on.

The three shows so far are Paignton, Canaans on the second day Aug 2nd with Vanessa Wegmann Williams, I hope that this can continue as its been sometime since Vanessa has judged the breed. Then Darlington on 19th September for us with Judge Ann Ingram and then South Wales Kennel Association on Sat 10th October where Jackie Kitchener will preside.

We can only hope that if all adhere to the policies in place and they are not lifted too soon, to allow a return of the virus that has the country in a strangle hold, we can return to a more normal routine. This situation has brought out the best and the worst in our communities. As a Paramedic I have been humbled by the level of support from the general public and then also frustrated by the ignorance of others. It takes all sorts I guess.

We are lucky again with this breed. Although they can have their foibles when it comes to accepting change and a reduction in their exercise routines they have all been stars, embracing more sofa time and cuddles.

Until next week stay safe and be kind.
